A Day in Lucca, Itlay

Lucca is one of Tuscany’s most charming ancient cities, with well-preserved Medieval towers and Romanesque churches, amphitheaters, and piazzas. Its mighty Renaissance wall topped with greenery offers a peaceful promenade for a “passeggiata” (relaxing stroll) or leisurely bike ride. Within the walled city, you’ll want to view the Old World villas, explore historic architecture and fine art in Duomo di Lucca, Cathedral of San Martino, and 14th century Guinigi Tower with its rooftop garden. Birthplace of the great Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, Lucca’s pedestrian-friendly streets and squares are lined with markets, shops, and sidewalk cafes where you can take a rest from sightseeing and enjoy a delicious gelato.
